Swimming

 What

Sportable’s aquatic programming will provide a safe environment for participants to successfully learn a variety of skills and achieve their personal goals. After initial assessment, athletes will be placed into one of two levels of programming. Adapted Aquatics will help participants achieve therapeutic goals and become comfortable in the water. Intro to Swim will provide participants with instruction and skill development in the basic swim strokes for recreational and competitive swimming.

Individuals age 5 and up with physical disability* or visual impairment and an interest in swimming.

*The majority of Sportable programs can be adapted for all levels of physical ability, including those individuals who are ambulatory or use a manual or power wheelchair. Coaching Staff

Sarah Nockengost

Sarah Nockengost has helped coach the Sportable swimming program for the last 3 seasons and served as a volunteer prior to coaching. She is a physical therapist with Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers, where she enjoys helping patients of all ages recover from orthopedic and neurological injuries. In her free time, she enjoys reading, swimming, watching Hokie football, and taking advantage Richmond’s local restaurant scene.
