Sportable Spokes Find Success at Baltimore Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

February 18, 2014

The Sportable Spokes Youth wheelchair basketball team traveled up to Baltimore February 15/16 to compete in the 23rd annual Bennett Blazer Invitational. The Spokes brought home 3 wins, 2 losses, and a ton of memories to be stored for a lifetime!

Sportable athlete Brandon Sharpe could sum up his favorite part of the tournament into one word, “WINNING!”  Brandon also stated that actually playing in the games is his favorite part of traveling to away tournaments.

When asked what his favorite part of the tournament was, Spokes Head Coach Matt Deans said, “I think the best part of this past weekend was realizing the growth in the season, and the growth within individual players. The team has been dedicated to practicing and improving their game. I saw a lot of opportunity for taking practice drills and concepts to the next level now that many are beginning to master the basics”.

The Sportable Spokes are looking forward to the rest of their season. Their next event is slated for Saturday, February 22nd where the Spokes will be doing a  halftime demonstration at the VCU Women’s basketball game at the Siegel Center 2pm!!! Come out to support the team as the show the fans their skills.
