HandcyclingMore Info
A hand cycle is a three-wheeled cycle that is powered by using your arms to turn the crank. Hand cycles fall into two categories, upright, or recumbent. You sit in an upright model in a manner similar to a wheelchair. In a recumbent model, your torso may be reclined somewhat, and your legs are out in front of you. Hand cycles are easily adjusted, simple to operate, and very easy to transfer in and out of. As a result, thousands of people with physical disabilities are hand cycling to improve cardiovascular and aerobic health, increase upper body strength, ride with friends and family, and improve overall fitness.
Power SOCCERMore Info
Two teams of 4 power chair users attack, defend, and maneuver an oversized soccer ball in an attempt to score points on a goal. The game is similar to the non-stop action seen in a typical indoor soccer game.
Wheelchair BasketballMore Info
The sport of wheelchair basketball came into fruition after WWII, when many veterans returned with their lives changed forever. However, their use of a wheelchair did not eliminate their desire to compete and release their un-channeled energy. By 1948 there were six teams in the United States. Nowadays, wheelchair basketball is an international sport, enjoyed by participants of all ages, with varying levels of ability.
Wheelchair TennisMore Info
The game follows traditional tennis rules and certainly maintains the same traditions of high levels of skill, fitness and strategy.
